P&O Ferries has reported an increase in the number of holidaymakers booking cross-channel ferries between Dover and Calais.
The cheap ferries operator said that Good Friday 2010 was the busiest it has seen for a number of years, with the company attributing the increase to people wanting to escape Britain's wintery weather.
P&O communications director Chris Laming told KentOnline that the majority of the company's sailings between 05:00 and 17:00 over the Easter period had been fully booked.
Easter is one of the busiest times of year for travel in the UK and the continent, with the AA reporting that 17 million cars were on the roads over the long weekend, many of which were en route to the country's ferry ports.
Almost 200,000 travelled on one of P&O's ferry routes during Easter, with the most popular onward destinations including Keukenhof in The Netherlands, the Plopsiland theme park in Belgium and Jardin de Boves near Arras in northern France.
