Art and culture buffs planning a ferry break in Belgium next month might be interested in a special event taking place in Brussels.
Design September encompasses a range of activities celebrating and exploring contemporary design, including exhibitions and 'open door' days at local workshops.
Travellers planning to visit Belgium with
P&O Ferries or
TransEuropa Ferries can time their visit to Brussels to coincide with Designers Weekend on September 24th and 25th, which will showcase international brands represented in the city.
A shuttle service linking the various participating establishments will be available throughout the weekend.
Also, visitors can head to La Fabrika between September 8th and 30th to see an exhibition celebrating Donna Wilson, who was named British designer of the year in 2010.
She will present an installation providing an insight into her work, which in the past has encompassed everything from colourful knitted creatures to upholstered furniture.
Other events will take place at venues such as the Ditto Gallery, La Loge Museum and Ampersand House.
P&O Ferries and TransEuropa Ferries provide crossings to the Belgian ports of Zeebrugge and Ostend respectively.
Travellers can also head to France or Holland with operators such as
LD Lines,
DFDS Seaways and
Stena Line.
