Ferries to France could prove a popular option among music fans next month, with a jazz festival set to be held in the Brittany region.
Jazz a Vannes will take place at two main venues - the Jardin de Limur and Auditorium des Cermes - between July 26th and 31st.
The event has been attracting international artists to the town of Vannes in southern Brittany since 1980, with Dee Dee Bridgewater and the Duke Ellington Orchestra among the acts who have entertained crowds in the past.
People travelling from the UK can reach the region with
Brittany Ferries, which operates regular crossings on the Plymouth to Roscoff ferry route and also offers
ferries from Portsmouth to St Malo.
This year's festival will begin with a free concert along the Esplanade in Vannes on July 26th.
Over the subsequent five days, visitors will be able to see gigs by a range of acts and solo artists, such as Dee Alexander, McCoy Tyner and the Alain Bernard Quartet.
Travellers heading to northern France this year also have the option of taking ferries from Portsmouth to Cherbourg or Caen with Brittany Ferries.
LD Lines offers regular
ferries from Portsmouth to Le Havre, one of the main gateways to Brittany's neighbouring region of Normandy.
