Golf fans planning to take ferries to France this year have been encouraged to try out some of the courses in the Alsace region.
According to the local tourist board, Alsace has a growing reputation as a golf holiday hotspot that is reflected in a new brochure being released this year.
The publication provides a variety of information on the region's "attractive, uncrowded and value-for-money" courses.
Located in eastern France, Alsace is easy to reach for people who travel on the
Dover to Calais ferry route, which is served by P&O Ferries and
Seafrance.
Visitors can also take ferries to Dunkerque from Dover with
Norfolkline.
Upon arrival in the region, travellers can head to sites such as the championship standard Kempferhof course at Plobsheim, which is ranked second in France by the Peugeot Golf Guide.
The Bernhard Langer-designed Golf de Soufflenheim near Strasbourg is another popular option, along with Golf de la Wantzenau.
Holidaymakers staying in the Colmar area can visit the Ammerschwihr Trois-Epis complex, which features an 18-hole and a nine-hole course.
LD Lines also provides access to France via the Dover to Boulogne ferry route, along with regular ferries to Le Havre from Portsmouth.
