Travellers planning a cultural break this year might be interested in taking ferries to Amsterdam to attend the Holland Festival.
The event, which is one of the highlights of the Dutch arts calendar, will take place at various venues in the capital city between June 1st and 26th.
People interested in seeing some of the theatre productions, opera performances and music concerts that are arranged for the festival can take
ferries from Newcastle to Amsterdam with
DFDS Seaways.
Highlights of this year's programme will include performances of Shakespeare's As You Like It and The Tempest by the Bridge Project, a transatlantic theatre company led by acclaimed director Sam Mendes.
The plays will be presented at the Stadsschouwburg venue between June 2nd and 6th.
Music fans will also find plenty to interest them, including an evening of jazz in the Orgelpark on June 5th and renditions of nine of Beethoven's symphonies on five different nights at the Muziekgebouw and Concertgebouw.
Travellers planning to visit The Netherlands this year can take
ferries from Harwich to Hook of Holland with
Stena Line, while
P&O Ferries offers a Hull to Rotterdam ferry service.
