Classical music lovers will be booking their ferry crossings to France soon so they can enjoy every second of a festival due to be held in Nantes next year.
La Folle Journee de Nantes, which is now in its 15th year, will take place from January 28th to February 1st.
According to the Pays de la Loire tourist office, this festival is the biggest classical music event in Europe, featuring more than 1,800 musicians and 270 concerts on a five-day programme.
Every year the festival has a different theme in 2009 the focus will be on the composers of northern Germany from 1650 to 1750.
Visitors will be able to hear many pieces by one of the pre-eminent composers of this era, Johann Sebastian Bach, including some of his most famous works as well as a number of rare pieces.
People who would like to attend this event can choose from a number of ferry services to northern France, including crossings to Caen and Cherbourg operated by
Brittany Ferries.
