Condor Ferries is backing a campaign that, if successful, could provide a benefit for travellers taking ferries to Jersey for an island break.
The operator confirmed its support for an initiative calling for the destination to feature consistently on nationwide weather forecasts.
Jersey Tourism launched the campaign to coincide with the summer holiday season.
Condor Ferries operates ferries to Jersey and Guernsey from the ports of Poole, Weymouth and Portsmouth on England's south coast.
Justin Amey, the company's marketing manager, said: "Even though Jersey is only a three-hour sail away from the mainland the weather is significantly warmer. As a ferry company we pay close attention to the weather and so it came as no surprise that Jersey benefits from better weather than the mainland.
"Jersey has more sunshine hours than anywhere in the British Isles and we welcome anything that helps to put it on the weather map and raises awareness among holidaymakers."
Analysis of BBC television weather forecasts carried out for the campaign found that Jersey is mentioned in only ten per cent of programmes.
People planning to enjoy some sunshine this summer can also travel to France by taking
ferries from Portsmouth to St Malo or Cherbourg with
Condor Ferries or
Brittany Ferries.
