Condor Ferries has said that it is committed to providing regular crossings on its Poole to St Malo ferry route.
The company made the announcement following the news that
Brittany Ferries is suspending services on its Cherbourg ferry route from Poole.
According to
Condor Ferries, its high-speed St Malo ferry links from Poole and Weymouth are the fastest way for travellers to reach Brittany with a car.
Justin Amey, a spokesman for the company, revealed that over 30 extra sailings will be available between Poole and St Malo during the summer months, meaning that customers will be offered a daily service to France.
He added: "St Malo and Cherbourg are less than 85 miles apart and with the impressive road network in France, those wishing to holiday in western France or travel further south can take advantage of our daily summer service.
"Since Brittany's announcement, we have seen a rise in the number of customers booking their summer trips with us."
Other options for people planning to visit France this summer include the
Dover to Calais ferry route, which is served by P&O Ferries and
Seafrance, and
LD Lines' ferries to Le Havre from Portsmouth.
