Condor Ferries has announced that it will deploy its newest ship, the Condor Rapide, on passenger services this month.
The vessel, which was purchased by the company just a few weeks ago, is currently undergoing an upgrade at Weymouth ferry port and will soon commence sea trials along England's south coast.
On May 13th, Condor Rapide will carry her first passengers on the Weymouth to Guernsey ferry route and then on to Jersey.
The ship will then operate St Malo ferry services from the Channel Islands from June 3rd, providing a number of benefits for passengers.
Simon Edsall, managing director of Condor Ferries, said: "Condor Rapide will allow more people to travel on the most popular sailings between the Islands and St Malo as well as offering a better onboard environment and larger duty-free shop.
"The introduction of Condor Rapide as a sister ship to Condor Express and Condor Vitesse also strengthens the resilience of our life-line service, as shown by its introduction on the Weymouth route."
Mr Edsall went on to state that Condor Ferries helped many passengers reach their destinations during the recent aviation crisis, which he said allowed travellers to rediscover "the benefits of ferry travel".
