Condor Ferries is currently working on revisions to its winter schedule to provide later departures to France from the Channel Islands.
The company is aiming to offer more options for people planning to take
ferries to France after work hours on Fridays leading up to the Christmas period.
As part of its plans for the winter season,
Condor Ferries analysed travel patterns and customer research to devise a schedule that would suit passengers' needs.
Simon Edsall, managing director of the company, said: "The winter schedule between October '10 and March '11 on Fridays, which has already been published, offered customers an 'after work' sailing leaving at 18:00 or later on nine Fridays out of the total 24.
"Our initial schedule offered a departure at 16:00 or later on 58 per cent of Fridays over the winter. We are working to revise our winter schedule to provide even more 'after work' sailings over the winter period."
Mr Edsall also stressed that sailings from Jersey are subject to tidal activity, meaning it is impossible to get in and out of the island's port for several hours on some days.
The company provides regular crossings to Jersey and Guernsey from the ports of Poole, Portsmouth and Weymouth on England's south coast and also offers
ferries from Portsmouth to St Malo and Cherbourg in northern France.
