Spain is one of the most culturally diverse and exciting countries anyone could visit, which is made even easier by
ferries from Plymouth to Santander. Music and dance lie at the country's heart, noted journalist and author Anna Nicholas, which should be essential elements of any holiday taken in the country.
"Its nature and wildlife are superb [and there are a] variety of birds and wildlife in all parts of Spain. [It also boasts] excellent cycling and walking, golf, sailing and tennis," the expert continued. She also recommended visiting one of Spain's many exceptional museums, such as the Museo Nacional del Prado in Madrid and the Picasso Museum in Malaga.
One of the elements that sets Spain apart from many other destinations is its cuisine. Ms Nicholas recommends that tourists try out a selection of local dishes during their stay, as each region will have a number of its own specialities. "For example, in Galicia the fish dishes are renowned, [as is the] paella in Valencia, arroz brut and sobrasada in Mallorca and jamon serrano in Seville," the travel expert explained.
One of Spain's finest products is its cheese, Ms Nicholas believes, with manchego in Castile-La Mancha among the best in the world. Other local goat and sheep cheeses are also well worth a try. Lastly, she said that "wine enthusiasts can't go wrong in Spain", as everything from Riojas to cavas are on offer.
