Cycling enthusiasts will have the opportunity to take ferries to Holland in July to see the beginning of this year's Tour de France.
The famous contest will begin on July 3rd with a prologue event in Rotterdam, which will be followed on July 4th with a 223km race from the Dutch city to Brussels in Belgium.
People planning to see the tour get underway can take
ferries from Hull to Rotterdam with
P&O Ferries.
The company also offers ferries from Hull to Zeebrugge in Belgium, which could prove useful for travellers intending to visit Brussels to see the riders arrive on July 4th and depart for Spa the following day.
Leading cyclists from all over the world will take part in the Tour de France this year, competing against each other over 20 stages and covering a total distance of 3,600km.
The finale of the race will take place along the Champs Elysees in Paris on July 25th.
Sports fans who decide to visit Rotterdam to watch the first stage of the tour can also take the opportunity to see some of the city's attractions, such as City Hall and statues by Pablo Picasso and Ossip Zadkine.
Stena Line offers
ferries from Harwich to Hook of Holland for travellers heading to The Netherlands, while
DFDS Seaways operates
ferries from Newcastle to Amsterdam.
