DFDS Seaways has announced that it will be "pushing the boat out" this month to celebrate 15 years of offering
ferries from Newcastle to Amsterdam.
The company has been operating sea crossings between the two cities since May 18th 1995, when the route was served by the vessel m.s. Winston Churchill.
Over the past 15 years, DFDS Seaways has clocked up nearly 2.3 million nautical miles on its Newcastle to Amsterdam ferry service, carrying more than five million passengers and one million vehicles.
People planning to travel to the Dutch capital by sea this year were informed that they will find "plenty to do once onboard".
"Enjoy a sumptuous meal at one of the fantastic restaurants, sit back with a coffee while the kids have fun in the kids club or visit the bar for a relaxing drink and enjoy the dazzling live entertainment," the ferry company said in a statement.
"Of course there's nothing like the fresh sea air out on deck."
DFDS Seaways also operates ferries from Harwich to Esbjerg, providing a travel option for people planning a trip to Denmark.
