DFDS Seaways has encouraged travellers to consider the "charming" city of Hamelin in northern Germany as a holiday destination.
Customers can take ferries to Amsterdam from Newcastle with DFDS Seaways and drive across the border into Germany to visit Hamelin.
Famous for the folk tale The Pied Piper of Hamelin, the city is located on the Weser River in the Lower Saxony region.
The destination serves as a gateway to the Weserbergland mountains, meaning it often proves popular among hikers and climbers.
DFDS Seaways highlighted a number of sights and experiences on offer to tourists in Hamelin, including the city's "beautiful" Renaissance architecture and "authentic German culture".
The destination also boasts networks of small streets full of shops and markets, as well as plenty of restaurants, beer gardens and cafes where visitors can stop for a rest.
Passengers on DFDS Seaways'
ferries from Newcastle to Amsterdam can make use of onboard facilities including a casino, cinema, restaurants and en-suite cabins.
The company also operates a Harwich to Esbjerg ferry route that offers easy access to Denmark.
