Travellers with an interest in 20th century history have been invited to catch
ferries from Newcastle to Amsterdam with DFDS Seaways this year to visit some of Holland's World War II battlefields.
Staying in Goch near the Dutch border, travellers can pay a visit to a point where parachutists landed during Operation Market Garden, where thousands of soldiers lost their lives.
In Arnhem, visitors can head to the Airborne Museum, which is located in a large country house that was used by General Urquhart during the battle for the Rhine Bridge in 1944.
After seeing the museum's collection of models and memorabilia, holidaymakers may be interested in continuing their tour to take in nearby attractions such as the local vineyards.
DFDS Seaways operates daily
ferries from Newcastle to Amsterdam, with departures from the English port at 17:30.
The carrier also offers a Harwich to Hook of Holland ferry service and a route linking the Danish capital of Copenhagen to Oslo in Norway.
