DFDS Seaways offering wildlife experiences | | | | 05 February 2010 | DFDS Seaways will operate special ferry crossings this year which it claims will offer "the ultimate marine wildlife experience".
People travelling on the company's Harwich to Esbjerg ferry route will be invited to come out onto the deck to look for some of the animals that can be spotted in the North Sea between the British Isles and Denmark.
Passengers will have the chance to spot seals, porpoises and various species of bird during their journey.
DFDS Seaways' wildlife cruises will also include interactive presentations by wildlife experts.
On arrival in Denmark, travellers can pay a visit to the island of Fano near Esbjerg, which is an important breeding ground for migrating birds.
The destination also boasts picturesque beaches and sand dunes that make it popular among families.
DFDS Seaways revealed that over 50,000 birds of more than 100 different species were seen in just one day last year.
The company operates regular crossings on the Harwich to Esbjerg ferry route and also offers ferries to Amsterdam from Newcastle.
