Travellers planning to take a ferry to Amsterdam with
DFDS Seaways this year will have the opportunity to experience "traditional Holland", according to the company.
Visitors can use the Dutch capital as a gateway to the country and arrange trips to a number of popular sights and attractions that offer an insight into its culture.
DFDS Seaways offers daily
ferries from Newcastle to Amsterdam, which depart from the port in north-east England at 17:00.
The company pointed out that passengers can start their holiday onboard by enjoying live shows, having a sit-down meal or trying their luck in the casino.
Upon arrival in Holland, travellers can visit destinations such as Zaanse Schans, which is famous for its well-preserved windmills and houses, some of which date back as far as the 16th century.
DFDS Seaways also recommended a trip to Volendam and Edam, which it described as "two of the country's prettiest towns".
People interested in visiting The Netherlands this year have other travel options including
Stena Line's
ferries from Harwich to Hook of Holland and
P&O Ferries' Hull to Rotterdam ferry service.
