People who want to set off on a holiday in Europe this year without suffering the stress often associated with overseas travel have been encouraged to make use of a
DFDS Seaways ferry route.
The operator claimed that, with its ferries to Amsterdam from Newcastle and its Harwich to Esbjerg ferry service, it will "do the travelling for you so that you can take your mind off the journey and set sail for Europe, carefree".
Holidaymakers based in the Midlands, the north of England and Scotland can make use of ferry links to the continent without having to drive all the way to the south coast to sail from ports such as Dover and Portsmouth,
DFDS Seaways pointed out.
The company provided the example of someone living in Newcastle planning to visit Cologne in Germany, who could cut 419 miles off their journey by catching a ferry to Amsterdam and driving from there, rather than driving to Dover and taking a ferry to Calais.
DFDS Seaways also offers a pet travel scheme that allows holidaymakers to take certain animals with them on their trip.
Other operators that provide ferry links to Europe from ports in northern England and Scotland, such as Hull and Rosyth, include P&O Ferries and
Norfolkline.
