DFDS Seaways to launch charity cruise | | | | 19 November 2008 | DFDS Seaways will be operating a special mini-cruise next month to help support the charity Children North East.
Organised to celebrate the ferry company's 142nd anniversary, a free cruise to Amsterdam will be available to people who donate £25, £35 or £50 to the charity.
The cruise break will include two nights onboard a DFDS Seaways ferry, coach transfers to and from Amsterdam and the best part of a day to explore the popular European city.
Children North East, which is the region's longest-running children's charity, provides help and support to young families who are facing difficulties.
John Crummie, UK managing director of DFDS Seaways, said: "We have been donating to Children North East for a number of years and we are proud to continue this relationship with such a worthwhile charity for 2008.
"We initially organised the charity cruises in 2006 to celebrate our 140th anniversary and they have proved so popular that we have continued them annually ever since. They really are an excellent way for people to give much needed donations to an excellent cause whilst enjoying a relaxing mini cruise break to Amsterdam."
As well as sailing from Newcastle to Amsterdam, DFDS Seaways offers ferry crossings from Harwich to the port of Esbjerg in Denmark. |
