DFDS and LD Lines joint Dover - Calais ferry service starting from 17th of Feb

DFDS and LD lines are starting a joint passenger and freight service on Dover - Calais route from 17th of Feb under the French flag.

Initially they will start the route with Norman Spirit and later another ship will be added on the Dover Strait which will be announced later.

For this service they will hire 300 employees many of them being former SeaFrance staff. In December, DFDS dropped the attempt to buy SeaFrance which was liquidated by the French Court on 9th of January.

A spokesperson mentioned that they are grateful for the support they got from the French Government, Chamber of Commerce and ports and local authorities.

They are looking forward to welcome passengers as well as freight companies to their new route.
