With Valentine's Day approaching,
DFDS Seaways are making a special offer on upgrades to first class for couples heading to the continent on a romantic break.
February 14th could see many people crossing the channel to enjoy the romance of Paris, Lille or Bruges and moving up to the first class lounge can cost as little as £12 per person, which could add some luxury and relaxation to the break.
Passenger director for the English Channel at DFDS Seaways Chris Newy said: "With a whole host of romantic destinations just a short car journey from the port of Dunkirk, including Bruges, Paris and Lille, it couldn't be easier to get away for Valentine's Day."
And getting away to the continent is easy because there are 12 sailings to the French port from Dover each day, he noted.
Travel writer and presenter on the Alan Titchmarsh show Sarah Woods recently commented that Paris has always managed to retain its appeal, as the familiarity of landmarks like the Eiffel Tower have ensured Britons feel an "affinity" with the city.
