'Deals on Wheels' for cycling fans from Irish Ferries

Cycle race supporters heading across the Irish Sea for the Tour of Ireland are being offered special deals for their four-wheeled transport by Irish Ferries, one of the event's sponsors.

With the deal, the only charge is for the vehicle and driver. All other passengers (up to a maximum of eight) travel totally free of charge.

A one-way cruise ferry crossing for car and passengers from Holyhead to Dublin or Pembroke to Rosslare- between 13 August and 31 August - is from just £99 if booked seven days in advance of travel. Parties who return to the UK between 1 - 15 September pay from just £78 one-way provided booking is made by 31 August.

The Tour of Ireland begins with the Dublin to Waterford stage on 27 August and covers 12 counties, ending on 31 August with the final burst between Killarney and Cork.

16 international teams comprising some 112 riders are scheduled to take part in this year's event with one of the leading contenders likely to be Mark Cavendish from the Isle of Man, a two-stage winner in this year's Tour de France and a member of GB's cycle team for the Beijing Olympics.
