More Britons are likely to book ferries to France as the Eurostar has reduced services on its Lille trains.
The company is operating fewer services on its London to Lille route as a result of a serious train accident which took place just outside of Brussels yesterday (February 15th).
Eurostar has completely suspended all its trains to the Belgian capital, with services coming to a halt for the second day running.
In a statement, the train operator said: "The scene of the accident is where the domestic commuter lines and high-speed lines meet at Halle near Brussels."
"Because of the seriousness of the accident and the expected impact on both domestic and international rail services, passengers between the UK and Brussels are strongly advised to postpone or cancel their journeys," the company added.
This could prompt a surge in bookings for a
Dover to Calais ferry or similar services between the UK and continental Europe.
