Dinard to host British Film Festival

Fans of the history and culture of British film may fancy taking a ferry trip to Brittany this year for the Dinard British Film Festival.

British film has something of a cult following in France and this event celebrating the fact will be held at the Palais des Arts from October 2nd to 5th.

Every year the festival sees a number of films competing for the top award – the Hitchcock d'Or.

The 2008 programme of movies will include A Complete History of My Sexual Failures, Boy A and Hunger.

One of the highlights of the festival will be a screening of the film Man on Wire, which tells the incredible story of Philippe Petit, who performed a tightrope walk between the twin towers of the World Trade Center in 1974.

Dinard is located on the north-east coast of Brittany, not far from the port of St Malo.

British visitors can board ferry crossings to St Malo from Portsmouth, Poole and Weymouth.
