People planning ferry trips to Belgium over the coming months should be sure to pay a visit to Bruges to learn about the city's rich tradition of lace-making.
The use of lace in art and design has been popular in Bruges since the late 15th century and this trend will be fully explored in an exhibition at several city museums.
Running throughout November and December, the showcase includes a number of pieces of lace with historical significance as well as modern items that have links to contemporary art.
A musical programme will also be held in Bruges as part of the exhibition, which has been arranged in cooperation with the Concertgebouw.
Holidaymakers planning ferry trips to Belgium can visit a number of institutions in Bruges that explore the city's history and culture, including the Bruggemuseum and the Hospitaalmuseum.
Ferry crossings are available to the Belgian port of Zeebrugge from Hull with P&O Ferries and from Rosyth with
TransEuropa Ferries.
Alternatively, travellers can sail to the French ports of Calais or Dunkerque and make the short drive over the border into Belgium.
