People with a passion for modern art might be interested in taking ferries to Amsterdam this year to see an exhibition at the Van Gogh Museum.
In its annual collaboration with the Rijksmuseum, the Van Gogh Museum is presenting a selection of works by surrealist artist Marcel Duchamp's brother Gaston, who worked under the pseudonym Jacques Villon.
The exhibition features a range of etchings, engravings, lithographs and other pieces by Villon.
People interested in seeing it can take
ferries from Newcastle to Amsterdam with
DFDS Seaways, which offers daily departures from the UK port at 17:00.
Villon created almost 700 prints and paintings during his career and enjoyed international acclaim from 1950 onwards.
Travellers enjoying breaks in Amsterdam can visit the Van Gogh Museum to see how the artist was influenced by the likes of Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, Pierre Bonnard and Vincent van Gogh while maintaining his own distinctive style.
The Van Gogh Museum hosts regular exhibitions and gallery events throughout the year.
People heading from the UK to the Netherlands also have the option of taking
ferries from Harwich to Hook of Holland with
Stena Line, while
P&O offers
ferries from Hull to Rotterdam.
