The Port of Dover is holding an exhibition and a meeting in order to discuss its plans for privatisation with members of the public.
Last week, media reports suggested that authorities were considering selling the port to nearby Calais.
This would mean that the French port would have more control over
Dover to Calais ferries.
However, Bob Goldfield, chief executive of the Port of Dover, denied that such a decision had been taken and said that no sale could take place until the secretary of state gives his approval.
Now, the port has announced plans to hold a public exhibition at Dover Town Hall early next month to explain what its privatisation means for the local area.
The exhibition on Ferry Terminal 2 will open on March 4th at 16:00 and will be followed by the meeting, which starts two hours later.
In a statement, the port authorities said: "There will also be a presentation on Ferry Terminal 2 and an update on the plans that have developed following several years of consultation and refinement."
