Dublin 'a leading literary destination'

Dublin 'a leading literary destination'
One of the many things that people planning a ferry crossing to Dublin can look forward to is exploring the city's literary associations, according to TripAdvisor.

The editors of the online travel community compiled a list of the world's top ten literary destinations, on the basis that they have been the home or inspiration to some of the world's great writers.

Dublin was ranked fourth in the list of the top literary locations, as it has been home to writers including James Joyce, Jonathan Swift, Seamus Heaney and WB Yeats.

Some of these writers used their home city as inspiration for their work, creating pieces such as Joyce's Dubliners and Swift's A Modest Proposal.

Literature enthusiasts can catch ferries to Dublin and visit James Joyce Tower, which was a temporary home to the great writer and the setting of the first chapter of his novel Ulysses.

Another location that may be of interest is the Dublin Writers Museum, which looks at the lives and work of the city's literary celebrities over the past 300 years.
