Easter holidays in Belgium 'about more than just chocolate'

People planning ferry trips to Belgium this Easter will be able to enjoy more than just high-quality chocolate, with a "wide variety of attractions and activities" on offer, according to Tourism Flanders.

One of the most popular locations for holidaymakers to visit this Easter will be the Sablon in Brussels, which is described as a "central hub" for boutiques and art galleries.

Travellers can also head to the traditional flower market on the Kouter in Ghent, which is open every Sunday morning and boasts an impressive collection of orchids, azaleas and more.

Ferry passengers who are embarking on their Belgian trip with the sole ambition of sampling the local confectionery can head to chocolatier Pierre Marcolini's flagship store in Brussels to try his unusual creations.

There are a number of chocolate makers to visit in the city of Antwerp, including Godiva, Leonidas and Neuhaus, along with the local favourite Hans Burie, who is known for his extravagant window displays.

Travellers can reach Belgium by sailing with P&O Ferries from Hull to Zeebrugge or with TransEuropa Ferries from Ramsgate to Ostend.

Eurostar also provides a direct rail connection from London to Brussels via Calais.
