Wightlink marked the "end of an era" this week when its Caedmon vessel operated its last ferry crossing from Lymington to Yarmouth.
The Caedmon carried her last passengers on the 21:15 service from Yarmouth on the evening of January 21st.
Wightlink will continue to operate the crossing using its Cenwulf and Cenred vessels before the introduction of new Wight-class ferries next month.
Over the course of more than three decades, the Caedmon has carried millions of passengers between the Isle of Wight and the English mainland.
Clive Tilley, commercial director of Wightlink, told the Isle of Wight County Press: "It is the end of an era for the Caedmon, which has been operating on this route for 35 years. It's quite sad to see her go but we are excited about the introduction of the new ferries."
Mr Tilley said that the new vessels will offer a "more modern and much improved service" to passengers on the Lymington to Yarmouth route, which he described as "vital to the economies of the Isle of Wight, Lymington town and the New Forest".
