Ferries from Dublin to Liverpool may be busy as the new Premiership football season begins tomorrow (August 18th).
The north-west of England is home to several top-flight clubs that visitors crossing the Irish sea may want to watch this week.
Last year's title-winners Manchester City begin their campaign at home to promoted Southampton, while Monday night (August 20th) will see action in the city of Liverpool as Everton face Manchester United.
Liverpool and Wigan Athletic make up the rest of the north-west contingent.
The nPower Football League also begins, with the various Championship sides dreaming of promotion to the top league.
Teams in the region harbouring such hopes will include Blackburn Rovers and Bolton Wanderers, who were both relegated from the Premiership last season.
Other teams in the division include Blackpool and Burnley, with the latter playing Bolton this weekend.
Some fans may even want to see some lower-league teams in action, with the likes of Preston North End, Bury, Crewe Alexandra, Rochdale and league new boys Fleetwood Town at home this weekend.
