Those starting a tour of Spain by taking
ferries from Portsmouth to Bilbao may want to find their way to Madrid during the week around May 15th.
This is the day of the city's patron saint San Isidro and the occasion is marked with people wearing traditional dress and partying in streets and parks, with plenty of open-air music.
And the whole week around the event is filled with fun as cultural events, food and the start of the bull-fighting season are all part of the mix.
While this is going on, of course, visitors can explore Madrid's famous buildings, museums and maybe get in a bit of shopping too.
Another city visitors might want to enjoy a bit of a festival in is Barcelona.
The Catalunia shares a patron saint with England and St Jordi's Day on April 23rd sees men give flowers to the ladies and women give books to men.
