Enjoy some jazz in France | | | | 01 October 2008 | Jazz fans will be tempted to make use of cross-Channel ferry services this month to attend a major music festival being held in northern France.
The Tourcoing Planetes Jazz Festival will be held from October 18th to 25th and will bring a varied group of artists to venues in Tourcoing and other locations around Lille.
This year's event will feature a number of acts familiar to jazz aficionados, including famed pianist and composer Herbie Hancock, who will perform at Sebastopol on October 20th.
Other highlights for visitors will include a performance by the Roy Haynes Fountain of Youth Band and an appearance by Serbian blues guitarist and singer Ana Popovic.
While they are not enjoying music concerts, holidaymakers in Tourcoing and the surrounding area can visit sights including the Church of St Christopher and the Hospice de Havre.
The easiest way to reach the Nord-Pas de Calais region of France is by catching ferries from Dover to Calais or Dunkerque, which are provided by SeaFrance, P&O Ferries and Norfolkline. |
