Travellers planning to catch ferries to Amsterdam for early summer breaks in June will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in contemporary culture at the Holland Festival.
This event, which is one of the highlights of the Dutch cultural calendar, will take place at some of the capital's major concert and performance venues between June 4th and 29th.
Film fans will be able to head to the Westergasfabriek between June 11th and 28th as it hosts a retrospective dedicated to Michelangelo Antonioni, the creator of classic films such as L'Avventura, Blow-Up and The Passenger.
There will also be plenty to interest music lovers, including a production of Carmen by the Nederlandse Opera at the Het Muziektheater.
Around 80 performances will be presented during the course of the Holland Festival, which will be attended by around 80,000 people.
Ferries from Newcastle to Amsterdam are provided by DFDS Seaways, while P&O Ferries operates a Hull to Rotterdam ferry service and Stena Line offers crossings from Harwich to Hook of Holland.
