Eco-conscious travellers planning to catch ferries to Ireland for a break this year may be interested in a new list of the top 'green' holiday experiences on offer across the country.
The list has been put together by Richard Hammond and Jeremy Smith, authors of the new book Clean Breaks published by Rough Guides.
Details of 500 eco-friendly holiday pursuits around the world feature in the new guide, 55 of which are based in Britain and Ireland.
Travellers planning to catch ferries to Ireland can cycle the Kingfisher trail or pay a visit to the Delphi Mountain Resort in Connemara, County Galway.
Other eco-friendly holiday options in the list include a rail and sail journey from London to Dublin and a trip to Orchard Acre Farm in County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland.
Travellers can catch ferries to Dublin from Liverpool with P&O Ferries and
Norfolkline Irish Sea or from Holyhead with
Stena Line and
Irish Ferries.
Stena Line also operates a Liverpool to Belfast ferry route and provides ferries to Dun Laoghaire from Holyhead.
