If you've made a reservation on
ferries from Portsmouth to St Malo, then why not head to the town a little earlier to explore what it has to offer?
Andrew Bateman, tourism manager at Hampshire County Council, explained that there is a whole host of things going on in the area over the coming weeks.
Aside from the usual historical attractions in Portsmouth, there are many special exhibitions also taking place.
"The Dickens 2012 Festival kicked off in Portsmouth [in December], celebrating the birth 200 years ago of Portsmouth's most famous son," Mr Bateman explained.
In addition to this, Alton Beer festival is taking place on February 18th and 19th 2012, while on the latter of these two dates there's a Snowdrop Day at Chawton House Library.
This is the former home of Jane Austen's brother, and the author's house is also not far away for fans to learn more about her life.
