Explore the gardens of Brittany before winter

Explore the gardens of Brittany before winter
06 October 2008
Brittany boasts a number of picturesque outdoor areas
People with a passion for flowers, plants and horticulture should catch ferries to Brittany soon if they want to explore the region's parks and gardens before the winter.

A number of the province's outdoor areas close during the colder months, including the Parc Floral de Haute Bretagne in Le Chatellier.

This park, which will be open until November 12th, was originally designed in the 19th century and boasts ten elegantly sculpted gardens for visitors to explore.

People planning a trip to Brittany slightly later in the year may be interested in visiting the Jardins de l'Abbaye de Daoulas, which will be open until the beginning of January 2009.

This location includes an abbey with two-tiered medicinal plant gardens growing some exotic plants on the verge of extinction.

There are a number of gardens that visitors to Brittany can visit all year round, including the Jardins du Chateau de la Ballue in Bazouges la Perouse.

Travellers looking for ferry crossings to Brittany can sail from ports including Portsmouth, Plymouth and Cork with Brittany Ferries, Irish Ferries and other operators.
