Fastnet Line, a budding ferry operator offering ferries to Ireland from England has proved to be a tremendous success by shattering all passenger booking targets.
Fastnet Line, due to commence its ferry services between
Swansea and
Cork on the 1st of March 2010 has already secured EUR 500,000 worth of bookings. These bookings were secured in less 5 weeks proving to be a very popular route for both Irish and British tourists.
This new Swansea / Cork ferry service, created to replace the old Swansea Cork Ferries service is poised to improve Irish tourism massively with 80% of passengers being British going across, to spend their holidays in Ireland.
Paul O'Brien, general manager of West Cork Tourism Co-op, which owns Fastnet Line said that he was "delighted to see the Fastnet Line service up and running". He also added, "We have had fantastic support from Cork city and county councils as well as from Swansea City Council and the Welsh Assembly. I think everyone realises just what an important tourism asset this link represents."
Fastnet Line's ferry M/V Julia is capable of carrying 1860 passengers, 400 cars and upto 30 freight vehicles thereby catering to both tourists and hauliers alike. Fastnet Line is therefore confident of establishing a profitable year round schedule.
