When it comes to choosing the best place to holiday with pets,
ferries to Ireland could be the ideal option.
Irish Ferries explained that the British and Irish governments have agreed that no compliance checks will be made on pets travelling between the two countries.
This means that even in spite of new European Union rules making it easier for animals to travel, Ireland remains one of the most convenient places to take a break.
The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs explained that the UK and Republic of Ireland have not had any indigenous rabies for a number of centuries.
Irish Ferries' head of passenger sales Declan Mescall commented: "We carry tens of thousands of pets free of charge every year and that will not change.
"Ireland is still the easiest option for anyone who wants to take man's best friend on holiday!"
