ferries to Ireland may be preferable to air travel to many people for a whole host of reasons, an expert has noted.
John Lahiffe, publicity manager at Tourism Ireland, suggested that families in particular will find ferries a particularly convenient way to travel.
"Certainly if you're talking about [going with] kids and bringing toys, bikes et cetera, the car is a very serious option," he explained.
Mr Lahiffe also emphasised how good ferries are for anyone who wants to take their dog on holiday with them, as they are able to do so without too many restrictions.
The dog is able to just sit in the back of the car with their own toys and bed, he continued, giving them a stress-free journey to their destination.
Once in Ireland, Mr Lahiffe pointed out that there are many dog-friendly establishments to check into, therefore allowing a real family holiday.
