Ferry Travel more popular than ever
Increasing number of British holiday makers are more than likely to take ferries rather than airlines this year. The Passenger Shipping Association (PSA) claimed that credit crunch has been the contributing factor for Brits looking for cheaper ways to get overseas.
PSA director William Gibbons said: "If you are taking your family then we think travelling by ferry is incredibly good value, especially if you are prepared to travel outside the more busy times."
He added people's holidaying habits are now changing, with travellers more likely to take one break per year to save money.
Furthermore, the experts have added that holidays are more likely to be closer to home to save money and this market is perfectly catered by ferries.
Also according to a survey conducted recently by the Port of Dover, more number of people have rated luggage handling and check-in procedures to be easier at the sea ports rather than the airports.
