Ferry break destination France has come top of a list of destinations for 2010 holidays.
The announcement comes from travel website Simonseeks.com which carried out a survey of where British people plan to go on holiday in the New Year.
Other popular ferry break destinations including Spain and Portugal also made it into the top ten.
The poll of 3,000 people found that 56 per cent of British people were not intending to repeat the 2009 trend of 'staycationing' and were prepared to make sacrifices throughout the year in order to be able to afford a holiday abroad.
Simon Nixon, founder of the Simonseeks website, commented: "The research reveals a real determination to travel - especially among those who didn't take a holiday overseas in 2009.
"'Staycation' was the buzzword of 2009 but it seems that 2010 will be more about a compromise culture, with people giving up short-term benefits to ensure they can afford that holiday abroad."
