Ferries to Scotland could prove popular over the coming month as a result of a new campaign promoting winter tourism in the country.
VisitScotland announced that ferry companies based in the UK and Ireland are among the partners involved in its Winter White campaign, which was launched in Edinburgh this week.
The country's outdoor experiences will be promoted over the coming months, with visitors encouraged to take in the scenery of destinations such as the Northern Isles and the Isle of Mull.
People based in Northern Ireland can get to Scotland by taking ferries to Stranraer from Belfast with
Stena Line or travelling on P&O Ferries' Larne to Cairnryan ferry service.
Jim Mather, Scotland's tourism minister, said: "Winter festivals, stunning seasonal scenery and homegrown Scottish traditions are all part of the innovative ways of attracting new visitors to our great country, ensuring that Scotland continues to be one of the must-visit destinations in the world.
"Tourism in Scotland can no longer be considered seasonal as the Winter White campaign is a major contributor to the Scottish tourism industry."
Travellers can take ferries to Kirkwall and Lerwick from Aberdeen with
NorthLink Ferries to see Scotland's Northern Isles.
