Ferry travel 'more exciting' for kids

Ferry travel 'more exciting' for kids
Taking the ferry is more enjoyable for children as there is often more to do onboard, one expert has said.

Journeys can often be stressful for parents trying to keep kids entertained but it seems that ferry travel can help relieve boredom among youngsters.

Lucy Ace, managing director of Take the Family - which provides information on family holidays – says that ferries can be a great way to get to your destination.

"Both air and ferry travel are exciting experiences for kids, the bonus of travelling by ferry is that it is a lot less restricting," she said.

"You can walk around stretching your legs and getting rid of some of that built up energy."

She added: "On some routes you can take cabins or join in with onboard entertainment, all of which help to make the whole experience much less stressful."

Last year, the Shipping Times said that 235,000 passengers passed through the Port of Dover over the four days of the Easter holiday weekend.
