Festive magic promised for ferry passengers

Festive magic promised for ferry passengers
Holidaymakers embarking on ferry crossings between Newcastle and Amsterdam and Harwich to Esbjerg will be able to get into the festive spirit ahead of the Christmas period.

DFDS Seaways has promised its passengers travelling on either route that the festivities will begin "the moment you step onboard".

The ferry operator will allow winter tourists the chance to visit a number of traditional Christmas markets on its cruises, with one of the most popular in Brussels.

According to DFDS, the "beautiful and vibrant city comes alive with 240 wooden market stalls in the stunning Place St Catherine".

Brussels can be easily reached by ferries from Newcastle, while Harwich will also allow people to sail to Copenhagen, which features the world famous Tivoli Gardens.

These are arguably at their most magical during the festive season, with visitors able to have a go on the outdoor ice rink.

Amsterdam and Esbjerg also have an abundance of festive charm, with ferries set to be a popular travel choice in the run-up to December 25th.

Earlier this month, DFDS said the Belgian capital is the "perfect place for a festive break".
