Film festivals aplenty in Dublin

Film festivals aplenty in Dublin
27 August 2008
Ferry crossings to Dublin provide many opportunities for cultural entertainment
Movie fans should book their cheap ferries to Dublin soon to be part of one of the many film festivals set to take place in the city over the coming months.

People with an interest in world cinema can head to the Irish Film Institute from September 19th as it hosts the Ukrainian Film Festival.

Presented in partnership with the embassy of Ukraine in Ireland, this week-long event is designed to provide a sample of Ukrainian cinema for western audiences.

The next event at the Irish Film Institute will be the Stranger Than Fiction documentary film festival, which will screen a number of works between September 25th and 28th.

Among the highlights of the documentaries being shown will be films about the lives of influential American musician Patti Smith and similarly important photographer Annie Leibovitz.

Those with an interest in the darker side of the movie business should head to the Irish Film Institute, which can be found on Eustace Street, between October 23rd and 27th for the Horrorthon festival.

Cheap ferries to Dublin can be caught from Holyhead, Liverpool and the Isle of Man.
