Film buffs will be able to catch cross channel ferries next month to attend two world cinema festivals due to take place in Normandy.
Running from March 11th to 15th will be the Asian Film Festival in Deauville, a cultural celebration that is regularly attended by more than 300,000 visitors every year.
The festival has been held in Deauville, one of Normandy's most popular beachfront towns, since 1999 and in the past has screened work by some of Asian cinema's leading directors.
Cultural focus will then move west as the Nordic Film Festival comes to Rouen from March 18th to 29th, showing films made in Denmark, Norway, Sweden, the Netherlands and other European nations.
People catching cross channel ferries for this event will be able to head to Cinema Gaumont and Cinema Le Melville in Rouen to see screenings of several films, including a documentary on the Dutch painter Rembrandt.
Holidaymakers can reach Normandy by catching cross channel ferries with LD Lines, which sails from Dover to Dieppe and from Portsmouth to Le Havre.
Brittany Ferries also offers ferry crossings from Portsmouth to Caen and Poole to Cherbourg, while
Condor Ferries sails to Cherbourg from Portsmouth and
Irish Ferries serves the French port from Rosslare.
