First glimpse inside new Wightlink ferry | | | | 29 October 2008 | A new Wightlink ferry has been moored on Lymington Pier, Hampshire, so that visitors can come and look around, it has been reported.
Wight Light has opened up to the public to allow them to get a glimpse of the huge ferry which will transport passengers across the Solent.
The Southern Daily Echo reports that hundreds of people have already headed down to the port to inspect the latest offering from ferry operator Wightlink.
It is one of three new ferries which will service the Lymington to Yarmouth route and will be able to carry 65 vehicles - 15 more than those they are replacing.
Wightlink chief executive Andrew Willson told the newspaper that the public's reaction to the ferry had so far been positive.
"The noises we are hearing are that people are very, very impressed," he said.
"I certainly don't think it will do us any harm having had people on board."
Wight Light and its fellow vessels Wight Sky and Wight Sun, cost around £26 million to build. |
