Fjord Line faces bankruptcy
Fjord Line, the Norwegian ferry company that recently sold one of its ships and routes to DFDS, is reported to be facing bankruptcy proceedings after failing to pay two creditors of NK92,000 (about $14,000).
X-tra Personnel, a Bergen- based company that supplies office personnel to other companies, and Glasspaper, an IT consultancy, have started proceedings against Fjord Line in Bergen city court, Norwegian media reports say.
The court is expected to rule on the matter next week. Fairplay has been unable to obtain a
comment from Fjord Line. In September, Fjord Line sold the 1986-built cruise ferry Fjord Norway to DFDS in Copenhagen and ended its service between Bergen and Newcastle.
It retains a service to Denmark using a 16,000-gt ro-pax ferry. However, the service faces
competition from Color Line's 35,000-gt Prinsesse Ragnhild, a cruise ferry built in 1981.
