The Daily Telegraph has published a guide to the top ten locations for a winter sports getaway, with four popular destinations for ski holidays in France included in the list.
Chamonix was placed at number three, with the newspaper encouraging winter travellers to "see in the New Year at the foot of the Mont Blanc massif".
As well as enjoying the traditional pursuits associated with ski breaks, visitors to Chamonix can watch a musical parade on Christmas Eve and attend festive carol concerts.
Ranked fourth in the Daily Telegraph list is Courchevel, where Father Christmas himself is expected to make an appearance outside La Croisette on December 24th.
People whose ski holidays in France will take them to the resort of La Plagne will also be able to attend some Christmas Eve festivities a special nativity show and a celebratory fireworks display.
The final French ski destination in the Daily Telegraph guide is Val d'Isere, which boasts attractions including a Christmas market, children's shows and the illumination of 1,000 lights on December 25th.
Many ski holiday resorts in France are already open following abundant snowfall over the Alps in recent weeks.
